The Office of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal has issued the Guidelines, 2080 regarding the use of social media by government offices. This procedure has been prepared based on section 79 of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
The government has arranged for government offices to run social networks themselves for information dissemination.In addition, according to the prevailing law, the information and information to be made public should be made public on a regular basis through the social networks opened in the name of the offices.
The directory covers social networks of an interactive nature such as Facebook Messenger, Twitter, Viber, Instagram, YouTube, Google Plus, WhatsApp, Imo, Tik Tok, WeChat, Snapchat etc.
According to the guidelines, the office should open a suitable social network user account to inform the general public about the work they have done or will do in the future and to establish public access to information related to such work. This directive has repealed the directive, 2075 regarding the use of social media by government offices.
